Actually in the Cinderella original tale the slipper is not in glass. It’s a common mistake because of the french origin (Charles Perrault) : the “pantoufle de vair” means a type of grey fur slipper, but it was often misunderstood as the “pantoufle de verre”, aka glass slipper, cause it sounds exactly the same.
